Pahlavan Mahmud (1247-1326) is also known as a fur craftsman, poet, philosopher, and a mighty martial artist, so he has been respected as a hero, guardian deity and saint of Khiva.
The Khan (King) mausoleum around 1810-1820 of Khiva is also built on the site.
