Uzbekistan photo exhibition at “Tokyo 2020 in Suginami Epilogue 3”
Tokyo 2020 in Suginami Epilogue 3: Suginami’s journey through the Tokyo 2020 Games
Dates: 12/18 (Sat), 12/19 (Sun), 24 (Fri), 25 (Sat), 26 (Sun)
Venue: Former Suginami Fourth Elementary School
Free admission
A wide range of events will be held, including an exhibition of goods that have been collected in Suginami in connection with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, experience events for Olympic sports such as boccia and cricket, and exhibitions and sales of miscellaneous goods related to the host towns of Uzbekistan, Italy and Pakistan.
The venue, the former Suginami Fourth Elementary School, was completed in 1992 and was selected for the Architectural Institute of Japan’s works collection in 1993. It is a very unique school building.
I visited it for the first time yesterday to deliver my work, and was surprised at how cool and functional it was, different from the “old elementary school building” I had imagined.
With open spaces and partitions, it has a structure suitable for holding events, and it seems like it would be fun just to visit and wander around.
I will be exhibiting 21 of the 25 works I exhibited at Sesion Suginami last November in the Uzbekistan space.
I will also be selling the photo book at the venue on the final day, the 26th (Sunday).
